Build-A-Bear Introduces Wearable Slushie Plushies, A Fun Twist on Crossbody Accessories

Build-A-Bear Workshop has just launched one of its most innovative product lines to date: Slushie Plushies, a collection of wearable plush toys that double as crossbody accessories. Launched on May 7, 2026, the line represents the brand's first foray into 'wearable plush' — stuffed animals designed to clip onto an optional crossbody strap and go wherever you go. You can find Slushie Plushies at major retailers like Target, Walmart, and Five Below, or online at buildabear.com, with prices starting at $12.99.

What Are Slushie Plushies?

Each Slushie Plush features a hidden clip system that attaches to a dedicated crossbody strap (sold separately for $6.99). The initial collection includes four drink-themed characters:

  • Blue Raspberry Cow — a vivid blue cow with a frosty raspberry swirl
  • Coconut Lime Koala — tropical greens with coconut accents
  • Fruit Punch Lobster — a bold red-pink lobster with fruity flair
  • Strawberry Lemonade Bear — the classic Build-A-Bear silhouette in pink-yellow gradient
The Slushie Plushies line is available now at buildabear.com and in select Build-A-Bear Workshop stores, with a special introductory offer of buy-one-get-one-50%-off on all Slushie Plushies.

Also Launching: Mashimals and Beary Goods

Alongside the Slushie Plushies, Build-A-Bear revealed two additional summer 2026 lines:

Mashimals

Mashimals are a new 'make-your-own' range that combines animal designs with everyday objects. Launch characters include a Crab 'n' Go Cooler (a crab fused with a beach cooler) and an Octopail (an octopus merged with a sand pail). These are designed for the in-store stuffing experience that Build-A-Bear is famous for, with prices starting at $19.99.

Mini Beans and Beary Goods

The Mini Beans collection expands Build-A-Bear's miniature collectible format with palm tree, beach ball, and sunset motifs, priced at $9.99 each. Beary Goods offers pre-stuffed plush in retail-ready packaging — a move that mirrors the success of pre-stuffed formats from competitors like Squishmallows, with prices starting at $14.99.

Why This Matters for Plush Collectors

The wearable plush trend has been building across the industry, with brands like Jellycat experimenting with bag charms and Pop Mart pushing crossbody designer toys. Build-A-Bear's entry with dedicated clip hardware and a crossbody strap system is the most committed version we've seen from a major plush brand.

For the kidult collector market — which now represents 28% of global toy sales — the Slushie Plushies sit at the intersection of plush collecting and fashion accessories. The drink-themed character designs and wearable format are clearly aimed at the teen-to-adult demographic that drives social media visibility.

This launch follows a strong Q1 2026 for Build-A-Bear, which reported year-over-year revenue growth driven by its expanding online and experiential retail channels.
